Prize Money for Professionals - The Cash Purse in any given tournament may vary based on the number of participants and/or sponsor contributions. However, Prize Money for each individual Senior Open Tour event is established prior to that event, with the amount dependent on the size of the field. All Senior Open Tour events will pay out to 1/3 of the field. First place ties are decided by a sudden-death playoff immediately after competition and continuing until the tie is broken.

Prize Money Payout for Professionals - Prize money is paid out to players who have a Form W-9 or Form W-8 (for non-resident aliens), on file with the Tour. By law, the Senior Open Tour must generally withhold 30% of the winnings of players who are non-resident aliens. Checks are written to winning players at the end of the final round. Players can choose to use their winnings as a Senior Open Tour Credit for Annual Membership Fees or future Tour events, within the calendar year.

Non-Cash Prize Vouchers for Amateurs - All amateur players in the Indexed Division can choose to receive their winnings in the form of MasterCard Gift Cards, Non-cash prize vouchers or Senior Open Tour Credits. Amateurs who wish to maintain their Amateur Status with the USGA and participate in Official USGA events will receive MC Prize Vouchers or Senior Open Tour Credit, in compliance with USGA® guidelines. The value of each MasterCard Gift Card is established prior to the event with the amount dependent on the number of players in Each Flight. Per USGA Rules of Amateur Status, no single prize awarded will exceed $750 in value. First place ties are decided by a sudden-death playoff and/or scorecard comparison, immediately after competition and continuing until the tie is broken(See Deciding Ties). Prize vouchers for other ties are split as necessary.
